Choosing The Right Hair Texture

Divas Lace Wigs offers a wide variety of hair textures that are suitable for women, men and children nationwide and internationally. Our customers appreciate the choices they have in matching the hair to their own hair texture or trying out a new texture and style.

When deciding on a texture, pick one out based on your hair preference and the amount of grooming you think you’re up for. Think about whether you want to wear it naturally or you want style it using an electric hair styling tool, curlers, rollers, etc. You can use a hair styling tool to straighten or curl most hair textures from curly to wavy to straight and vice-versa.

As with all human hair, it is important to note that the texture can change temporarily based on how the hair is styled, especially when using styling tools like flat irons or curling irons. The important thing to remember about electrical styling tools is that the wig and hair system hair is prone to damage just like your own naturally growing hair would be. You don’t want to use these electric styling tools too often and a heat protector is strong recommended. What you don't want to do is, “fry your hair.” If this happens, the hair is damaged and becomes limp.

We are often asked, whether curly or wavy styles can be flat ironed. The answer is yes but there are some textures where we recommend against it. It is not recommended to use heat or dense textures like kinky curl or tight waves because the curl is tight and requires more heat. It is generally better to just have a second straight wig rather than going through the labor of flat ironing out all the curls. But if you decide to straighten or curl it any way the hair will still revert back as long as you have not caused any heat damage to the hair once the hair is wet or sprayed and conditioned.

The general rule of thumb is to avoid excessive heat on any hair that has gone through chemical processing already. Straight to wavy hair is pretty easy to manage, moisturize and maintain. However, curly hair can be difficult to manage and typically needs more constant attention and plenty of moisturizer to combat dryness and breakage. We always suggest to our customer to always have two wearable wigs at once because you never know what will happen to your wigs. Also, with an alternate, both wigs will last longer.
